According to one eyewitness report, the kidnappers invaded the town Friday night around 10:30pm. The assailants spent more than two hours rampaging in different parts of the town. They successfully goes away with many people including the pregnant women and children, and this was done without any intervention from police authorities stationed in Wasagu.

“The bandits came in mass started sporadic shootings, ransacked the community, searches the houses of the targeted influential personalities in the town and triumphantly kidnapped many people, we are still counting no one knows the exact figures but they kidnapped more than fifteen. And unfortunately no any confrontation between the police officers attached to Wasagu Police Division and Special Mobile Police officers stationed in the town.” Revealed by one anonymous citizen of Wasagu.

The relatives of the victims urge the Nigeria and Kebbi State government to do something needful to address these incessant bandit attacks happenings in the towns and villages of the state and country at large.

“It has become recurrent for criminal gangs under various identities to work into our towns and kidnap women and children without any resistance from our police or armed forces. Apart from the economic, psychological and mental burden that kidnapping has visited on our people, the trauma of having our children kidnapped at homes is unimaginable, unacceptable and intolerable. While the poor funding of our security apparatus has depressed the psychological will of our soldiers and policemen, the lack of political will on the part of the government, to tackle the problem of criminality has placed the social order in appalling danger.” Said by one anonymous relative of the victims.

So far no any comment from from either the Kebbi State government or police authorities regarding the attack.
