Kebbi Hill-Top Creative Arts Set To Convene Cultural Day.

The Kebbi Hill-Top Creative Arts Foundation has expressed readiness to convene #KebbiCulturalDay to mark the 2019 World Day for Cultural Diversity, Dialogue and Development.

State Coordinator of the Foundation, Jamilu Magaji disclosed this to newsmen in Birnin-Kebbi shortly after inaugural meeting of the organizing committee on Saturday, June 1, 2019.

According to him, the event which is organized in collaboration with the State Government is slated for June 26, 2019, on the theme “The Prospects of Cultural Heritage in Kebbi State in the Promotion of Sustainable Peace and Development.”

He said the cultural day is aimed at harnessing the rich cultural heritage of Nigeria, particularly in Kebbi State. He added that the event is geared towards appreciating the value of cultural diversity with a view to promoting national cohesion, peace and development.

The Coordinator further highlighted that participants cut across various schools drawn from the four emirate councils in the State. He maintained that there would be cultural displays and exhibition of arts and crafts typhical of Kebbi by participants.

“There would be exciting exhibition of arts and crafts as well as colourful cultural display by students of secondary schools from Gwandu, Argungu, Yauri and Zuru emirates,” he said

“Other activities include academic discourse and presentations of artistic expressions by the literary enthusiasts mentored by the Foundation,” he added

“A renown Professor of African Culture and Former Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Islamic Studies, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Prof. Aliyu M Bunza would serve as the Discussant while Aisha Augie-Kuta; Founder, Centre for Arts and Creative Talent would be the Keynote Speaker at the event,” the Coordinator enthused

Earlier speaking while inaugurating the committee, an aide to the Wife of the Executive Governor of Kebbi State, Her Excellency, Dr. Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu and Member of the Research and Strategic Planning Committee, Malam Hayatu Bawa, expressed delight over the development. He said he was happy to identify with the Foundation given its mission to promote teen arts in Nigeria, particularly in the State.

He commended the organizers for the initiative, pleading that government would support the Foundation towards holding a successful event.
